AIStart brings the best of AI within reach for SMEs – watch the video

AIStart helps SMEs adopt artificial intelligence with a low threshold in their own business operations.

Pirjo Virkkunen, CEO of Digilick Oy, says that AIStart’s trainings make it possible to explore AI beyond the surface level. Virkkunen has completed AIStart’s seven-week training package tailored for micro and small and medium-sized enterprises. According to her, the trainings have brought tangible benefits to the company’s everyday work. Another memorable aspect was how easy it was to ask the trainers questions and get answers to one’s own considerations.

David Vasquez, CEO and Founder of Rollyy, also sees AIStart as having supported the development of both his own expertise and the company’s business. Vasquez works in robotics, which he describes as a demanding field. For that reason, continuous learning is essential, he says.

Business advisors at the forefront of AI

AIStart also supports cities’ business advisors in developing their AI competence. Business advisors need up-to-date knowledge about AI in order to serve their clients in the best possible way.

Matias Holmqvist, Senior Business Advisor at Business Espoo, has noticed that business clients are increasingly interested in using AI in both their operational work and strategic development. He points out that business advisors themselves also need regular training to keep up with how AI is evolving.

Low-threshold support for SMEs

Teijo Javanainen, AIStart Project Manager at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, describes the project’s guiding idea as providing low-threshold support for SMEs in adopting AI. Around 200 companies have already been involved in AIStart’s activities in different ways.

Javanainen notes that while the most enthusiastic SMEs have already taken steps in using AI, the larger masses have not yet started moving.
